If you have ever had to write an about page, you know that I’m totally stuck right now. I mean, yes I write the content here on the blog, but you aren’t really here because of me.
Still, knowing a bit about the person behind the words is important, so here it goes.
First, I am a convert. My name is Cheryl Light (yes, that is really my last name) and my daughter’s name is Faith. Thus, the Faith and Light Blog!
Back in late 2007, I first started attending an Orthodox church (an Antiochian parish in California). I moved back home to the Greater St. Louis area in 2012, and was chrismated into the Orthodox Church in 2015. I attend a ROCOR parish in St. Louis, where I chant in the choir and help with fundraising.
We talk about being the chief of sinners. I truly am. Please know when you read my content, you are reading a sinner. I struggle with gluttony, worry, anger, and depression.
This past March (2022) I turned 50, and I will be honest, I’m just now getting my life truly together.
Like so many, I have learned my lessons the hard way. There has been a lot of pain, a lot of loss, but also a lot of hope.
In Christ and His Resurrection, trampling down death by death, there is hope. In the everyday exercise of the Faith of the Apostles, in the day to day work, the seemingly mundane, comes the most profound change.
If my story can help ease your journey, or feel less alone, then I will have achieved something good. Something worthwhile.
